Champagne wines owe their inimitable character to their "terroir". In order to qualify for the Champagne appelation a sparkling wine must be produced in the Champagne district (from Chardonnay, Pinot Noir or Pino Meunier), and it must get its buble via the traditional "méthode champenoise".
